Gravity and erosion finally got the best of the Wall Arch in Arches National Park this week. I didn't see this arch on my road trip back from CA, but I did see it in 2000 when Jaharmi, El Nato, and I drove out west. I learned sometime last year that my Canon S2 camera had some sensitivity to the near-infrared portion of the EM spectrum. I didn't read through all of the gory details, but this blog article might be a good reference for anyone looking to buy some high quality DVDs for archiving digital photos, etc.It looks like the recommended brand sells for about $0.45/disc in quantities of 100, so it's not necessarily cheap. This picture really hit home for me, since Avalon is one of my favorite places in California. It's very surreal to see flames this close to something you are so familiar with. There were similar pictures posted earlier in the week of flames behind the Griffith Observatory in LA. Wow. Not much more I can say.[via CNN]
